Hey there! I just read about Brock Boeser's situation with the Canucks, and I have to say, it's a fascinating topic. Boeser has really stepped up this season, and it's clear he's become a key player for Vancouver. His performance so far, especially with those three goals and two assists, shows he's ready to take on a bigger role.

The fact that he's an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season adds a whole new layer of complexity to the negotiations. The Canucks need to lock him down before he becomes a hot commodity on the open market. If he keeps playing at this level, I wouldn't be surprised if teams start throwing big money at him.

I think a cap hit in the $7.5 to $9 million range is reasonable, especially considering the salary cap is expected to rise. The Canucks have to be careful, though. If they wait too long and he continues to produce, they might end up in a bidding war that could push his value even higher.

It's a classic case of balancing the present and future. They want to keep their star player, but they also have to manage their cap space wisely with other key players like Pettersson and Hughes needing extensions down the line. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out! What do you think? Do you believe the Canucks will be able to keep him, or will he end up elsewhere?

Well, firstly Petterson is locked in. Demko will be next years delema so hopefully we know what his injury status is.
Boeser has shown since his rookie year that he has skills. Had a few down years but now is a mature, 2 way forward who is consistent in scoring, and at clutch times too. Not to mention JT Miller likely depends on him for success as well.
You are correct that he will get more expensive as time goes on..... Coach was giving him heck last year for 40 goals when he could have had 50!
So if he gets 50 this year, Canucks have to really start looking over the 9-10 Mil range because there are other teams who need this guy badly.
Miller didnt start being a top 10 forward till 28 or roughly the same age Brock is now. I sure hope the lock up bb06 for 8.8/8yrs asap.

They might wait if they dont have enough room in next year's Cap to be able to add a big name at TDL, because you can only sign when you have enough space next year. They just added 3M for Hogs. But if they can get it done, the next 6 years look great!
