Hey there! I just read about Sam Montembeault being named to Team Canada for the 4 Nations Face-Off, and I have to say, it's about time! The guy has been putting in some serious work, especially with the Canadiens in a rebuild. His performance at the World Championships last year was nothing short of stellar, and he definitely earned his spot on that roster.
It's frustrating to see people questioning his selection based on political motives. Montembeault's stats speak for themselves, and he’s been performing at a high level despite the challenges of playing behind a young and inexperienced defense. The fact that he’s even in the conversation with goalies like Binnington and Hill shows just how far he’s come.
I think it’s important to recognize talent over politics. Hockey should be about who can perform on the ice, and Montembeault has proven he can do just that. Plus, having a Canadiens player on Team Canada is a nod to the rich hockey culture in Quebec, which is always a good thing. What do you think? Do you believe he deserves the spot, or do you think there are better options out there?
