Hey there! I just read about the Maple Leafs trading Timothy Liljegren to the Sharks, and I have to say, I think it was a smart move by GM Brad Treliving. Liljegren had been struggling to find his place in the lineup, and with the Leafs being so tight against the cap, it made sense to offload his contract.
Bringing in Matt Benning adds some much-needed depth on defense, and even if he doesn't end up being a regular in the lineup, the cap flexibility and draft picks they gained are huge. It's all about asset management in the NHL, and Treliving seems to be making the right calls. Plus, I think Liljegren will thrive in San Jose where he can get more ice time and develop his game further.
What do you think about the trade? Do you believe it will pay off for both teams in the long run?
