It's tough to see Anthony Duclair out long-term for the Islanders. He was really starting to find his groove alongside Barzal and Horvat, and that line had such great chemistry. Losing that speed and scoring ability is a big blow, especially early in the season when teams are still trying to find their rhythm.
I think Simon Holmstrom stepping up is a solid move. He has potential, and while he hasn't made a huge impact yet, this could be his chance to shine. The Islanders need someone to fill that void, and if he can find his scoring touch, it could really help the team stay competitive.
Reuniting Horvat and Barzal with Anders Lee could also be a smart play. Lee may not have the same speed, but he brings experience and a strong presence in front of the net. Plus, if he’s starting the season with renewed energy, that could make a difference.
I’m also intrigued by the idea of promoting a young forward from Bridgeport. It’s always exciting to see fresh talent come up and make an impact. The Islanders have a lot of options, and it’ll be interesting to see how they adjust the lineup. This is a crucial time for them, and how they handle Duclair's absence could set the tone for the rest of the season. What do you think? Do you have a favorite option to fill in for him?
