Hey there! I just read about the incident involving Adrian Kempe's slew-foot on Connor McDavid, and I have to say, it's a frustrating situation. Slew-footing is one of the dirtiest plays in hockey, and it's shocking that it wasn't even called during the game. A $5,000 fine is a joke for a player like Kempe; it barely makes a dent in his salary.
The NHL really needs to step up its game when it comes to protecting its star players. McDavid is a generational talent, and allowing players to take cheap shots at him without serious consequences is unacceptable. If the league wants to maintain its integrity and protect its stars, they need to implement stricter penalties for dangerous plays like this.
I agree with Mark Spector's take that if this happened in a casual game, there would be repercussions. The Oilers are definitely going to remember this the next time they face the Kings, and I wouldn't be surprised if things get heated. What do you think? Should the NHL be doing more to deter these kinds of plays?
