Hey there! I just read about the proposed trade between the Calgary Flames and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and I have to say, it really doesn't make sense to me. The Flames are off to a hot start, and their GM, Craig Conroy, has made it clear that they’re not in fire sale mode anymore. Why would they trade away a solid defenseman like MacKenzie Weegar when they’re looking to build a competitive team?
On the flip side, the Maple Leafs have already made significant changes to their defense this offseason. Adding another big contract like Weegar's seems unnecessary, especially with Mitch Marner's extension looming. It feels like both teams would be better off focusing on what they already have rather than making a blockbuster trade that doesn't align with their current goals.
