Hey there! I just read about Jake Oettinger's new deal with the Stars and how it might impact Igor Shesterkin's negotiations with the Rangers. It's fascinating to see how contracts can set the tone for the market, especially for goaltenders. Oettinger's eight-year, $66 million extension really raises the stakes for Shesterkin, who is undoubtedly one of the best in the league.

I get that Shesterkin wants to be the highest-paid player on the Rangers, and he has the performance to back it up. But with the recent contracts of Ullmark and Swayman, it does put him in a tricky spot. He has to balance his worth against the team's need for flexibility. If he pushes too hard for a massive deal, it could limit the Rangers' ability to build a competitive roster around him.

It's a classic case of wanting to be compensated for your value while also considering the bigger picture of team dynamics. I think he should aim for a deal that reflects his talent but also allows the Rangers to keep their core intact. What do you think? Should he hold out for that top dollar, or is it better to take a more team-friendly deal?
