Oilers Struggle Again: Lessons from Last Season Ignored 

It's tough to see the Edmonton Oilers struggling again after such a promising run last season. They had a remarkable turnaround, and it seemed like they had finally found their stride. But now, it feels like they're stuck in a rut, and the stats are alarming.

The fact that they have the same number of regulation wins as last year at this point is concerning. It’s almost like they’re relying too much on their star power, thinking they can just flip a switch when it matters. But as we’ve seen, that’s not a sustainable strategy. The special teams are a huge red flag too. A power play success rate of 16.3% is just not going to cut it in this league, especially when you have players like McDavid and Draisaitl who can light it up.

I think they need to take a hard look at their approach. The roster has changed, and they can't just assume that last year's success will carry over. They need to find that competitive edge again and start playing with the urgency that matches their talent. If they don’t, they might find themselves on the outside looking in come playoff time, and that would be a huge disappointment for a team with such high expectations.
