What a rollercoaster of a game for the San Diego Gulls! It's always tough to see a team fall short after a spirited comeback, especially in their home opener. The Gulls showed some serious heart in that third period, scoring four goals and really pushing the Firebirds to the limit. It’s a shame they couldn’t find that energy earlier in the game, but it’s encouraging to see them not give up and fight back like that.
Cale Fleury's hat trick must have been a sight to behold, but it’s clear the Gulls need to find a way to start strong and maintain that intensity throughout the game. The coaching staff has a lot to work on, especially with the next game against the Bakersfield Condors coming up. I’m excited to see how they adjust and hopefully come out with a better start.
